Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log or stored copy of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain a message sent to us for the purpose of responding. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical information when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view times and the pages opened
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The referring website, when available
- Approximate time spent on visited pages
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Small cookie files help measure how visitors move through the website, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics services combine that activity into traffic reports. A browser can block cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a search request to the selected partner
- Diagnose faults and improve page performance
- Measure which resources visitors use most
- Operate and maintain the website
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, hold, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The content identifies official sources for Greene County material, including the sheriff, local courts, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a file about another person or a consumer report. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search tools. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy. The provider controls its retention, processing, and disclosure practices, so review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to courts, the sheriff, Tennessee agencies, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select ads. We do not operate that cross-site tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data can be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a visitor's query
- Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights beyond those listed here. Tennessee's Consumer Protection Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §§47-18-101 and following, addresses unfair or deceptive practices. The Tennessee Public Records Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §§10-7-501 through 515, governs qualifying government records and does not turn this private resource into a public custodian. A visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal information we hold
- Ask what personal information we have about that visitor
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Object to certain forms of processing where the law permits
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. A revision becomes visible here along with a new effective date, so visitors should review the current version when privacy practices matter to them.
Effective date: August 8, 2026
